The Opportunity:

Agape for Youth, Inc is seeking to hire the next Executive Director/CEO.

Agape was founded in 1989 to place children with foster families which could guide and support them in becoming functioning individuals in society. During the past 35 years, Agape for Youth, Inc. has built a strong reputation in the community as a leader in quality therapeutic foster care. Over the years, Agape has expanded its services to include family foster care, providing adoption home studies, preparation of families and children for adoption, and supportive services to adoptive families. Our mission is to provide youth and families with supportive, nurturing services that encourage each other to reach their full potential.

Executive Director/CEO Candidates Qualifications:

The Executive Director/CEO will possess a minimum of an earned bachelor’s degree, ideally in a business field such as administration, communications, nonprofit management, and/or organizational management. Exceptional communications skills are required.

In addition, the candidate’s individual’s strengths will include broad based business skills with a minimum of seven years of comparable executive-level experience including P&L, along with ten or more years in leadership roles of progressive responsibility.  The candidate will have demonstrated skills in fundraising and building external relationships, and the fiscal management of budgets of the Agency.  The ability to model leadership skills in the management and development of staff and volunteer leaders is essential.

The ideal candidate will be a person of strong ideals and integrity who has a combination of visionary, strategic, and operational planning abilities to lead Agape.  Further, they will possess a style of leadership that is empowering, embracing, collaborative, all while satisfying accountability measures mutually agreed upon with the Board.  They will also be recognized as a community and business leader in the region or have the personal and executive presence to achieve this quickly after appointment.

Additional Skills Required

The ideal candidate will model servant leadership and will develop, coach, and enhance the culture of Agape for Youth. Inc. including knowledge of and demonstrated history of Strength-Based Leadership is vital in the culture and operation of Agape. The candidate must have a working knowledge of how to lead teams based on individual strengths. The candidate will be strategic minded, with strong communication skills and be able to promote the vision and mission of Agape. Further, a strong working knowledge of budgets, with proven budget management experience, is vital to this position.

Experience maximizing partnerships and advocating for funding and policy changes on a local, state, and national level is needed, plus the ideal candidate will have strong marketing experience. In addition, a demonstrated history and experience working with a Board of Directors and Board Reporting is preferred.

The ideal candidate will provide oversight for policies and practices that enhance the participation of staff and leverage the roles of staff and volunteers to effectively engage all served by the Agency. The ideal Executive Director/CEO will build relationships with corporate, nonprofit, government, and funding communities by representing the Agency’s strategic functions and influential speaking opportunities. A candidate with a history of expansive/multi-site program development and meeting the growing needs of the community through innovative strategies is strongly encouraged to apply.
