Mentoring Opportunities
|
Through
relationship building and modeling,
mentors have the opportunity to encourage
youth to make good choices, pushing
them toward success. |
Mentors need not be perfect but they must “be real,” willing to share and give of themselves to invest in the life of someone else.
The Youth Mentoring Program matches a volunteer with a foster youth to provide a positive role model. Mentors are asked to commit their time to visit with the youth on a regular basis. These visits may include tutoring or social outings. Mentoring relationships are important to foster youth because it brings an element of stability to their lives.
Youth Mentoring provides meaningful and positive relationships in the life of a foster youth.
Growing up, were there people in your life who encouraged you,
showed
you the ropes, and helped you become
the person you are today?
Think about family members, a teacher or coach, a neighbor, a boss, or family friend; those people were mentors to you.
You can help to make a difference in the life of a child. Become a mentor.
